Recently, a friend of mine was sharing with me how excited she was that her son, a recent college graduate, had accepted a job with a great company. As excited as her son was about the salary, his mother was even more excited about the benefits he’d receive as an employee. As a parent, she was grateful that he’d have health insurance, dental insurance and vision coverage. Knowing that her son would have access to those benefits gave her such peace of mind, because she understood how unexpected expenses could get out of hand and create financial hardship.
It occurred to me that, as Christ Followers, we’re not taking advantage of all the benefits to which our Heavenly Father has given us access since we joined His Family. Take some time, today and read Psalm 103, for yourself. Here are some of the benefits:
Psalm 103 Benefits
- Forgiveness: God forgives all sins, and does not treat us as we deserve
- Healing: God heals us emotionally, mentally, and physically
- Hope: God gives us hope, joy, and peace
- Renewed youth: God renews our youth like an eagle’s
- Compassion: God is compassionate and gracious, and slow to anger
- Protection: God provides protection through the armor of God
- Grace: God grants us grace
- Presence: God is always present
- Help: God helps us in times of need
- Restoration: God restores us
You don’t have to join a new company to receive benefits. No matter what kind of benefits your employer currently provides, I guarantee, they cannot compare to the benefits God provides for His children. So, the next time you face an “unexpected situation” in your life, use whatever benefits your employer provides but, first, use the Psalm 103 benefits provided by your Heavenly Father.
