In Luke 10:19, Jesus is preparing His disciples for his departure but, before He goes, He leaves them with one important final message:
He says, “Behold, I give you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
I’m Using My POWER! Say that with me:
I’M USING MY POWER!
Okay, Let’s talk about it. When Jesus speaks of power, He is not referring to physical strength. The power He gave to the disciples and to you and me, is AUTHORITY — the ability to act on His behalf and do what He would do.
Repeat after me: I AM USING MY POWER!
Now we don’t deal with serpents and scorpions but they are symbolic of obstacles, danger and spiritual adversity. What will you do when the enemy tries to stop you: I AM USING MY POWER!
And when Jesus says, “nothing shall by any means hurt you, that sounds like “no weapon formed against you shall prosper” Isaiah 54:17. So when the enemy attacks, what are we going to do? Say it! I AM USING MY POWER! SAY IT AGAIN:
We’re not powerless people. There’s no need to fear. With the Greater One living inside of us, Protection all around us and the AUTHORITY that’s been given to us. Let’s maximize what Jesus gave us and declare:
I AM USING MY POWER!
