It is 7:20am as I am writing this blog post on September 4th, 2024 and already, I feel a crispness in the morning air. It’s Summer hinting that it’s time for her to pack her bags and leave as Fall approaches to report for duty. Seasons.
There’s a classic song that talks about seasons. It’s called, “Everything must change”. It talks about how “Winter turns to Spring. Wounded hearts will heal. The young become the old and mysteries do unfold.” At one point, the artist, Brooke Benton says, “There are not many things in life we can be sure of.”
As I thought about that line, I had to ask myself, “What are the things we can be sure of?”
In this age of explosive knowledge and information, what’s cutting edge at 10am, is almost obsolete by noon. And it seems that the most successful people are those who can quickly adopt new technologies. You know who they are. They’re the ones who are adept at switching software out as quickly as they change shoes. So, what can we be sure of? Here’s what God gave me in answer to this question:
God is faithful to Who He is, What He does and What He has said.
Hebrews 13:8 – Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today and forever.
Malachi 3:6 – For I am the Lord, I change not…
Psalm 89:34 – My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.
As long as the earth remains, seasons will come, and seasons will go – the bible says so.
(Genesis 8:2 As long as the earth remains, there will be planting and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night.”) Since we can’t stop the changing of seasons, let’s welcome them! It’s time to unpack your sweaters, stock up on your favorite teas & coffees, and retrieve the fall decorations. Embrace the change of season by staying mindful of God’s never-failing promises. Let’s enjoy the changing season while we rest in the faithfulness of our unchanging God.
