Have you ever listened to a Christian talk more about Satan’s ability than they talk about God overcoming power? I have. As Christ-followers, we must remember that Satan is very limited in what he can do. He’s a liar, a deceiver, a trickster and fraud. That’s why he tries to talk you into things because he can’t make you do anything. So, with that in mind, here’s a list of just 12, of the many, things that he can’t do. Satan can’t:
1. Read Your Mind – I Corinthians 2:11 / I Peter 5:8
2. Predict the Future – I Corinthians 2:8
3. Continue to Harass You Once You’ve Resisted Him – James 4:7-10
4. Create Anything Original. Only God Can Create – Isaiah 44:24 (He Manipulates, Imitates, Fabricates, but Can’t Create)
5. Take Away Your Salvation – John 10:28-30
6. Make You Sin – James 1:13-15 NLT / Romans 5:12
7. Be Everywhere at Once – Job 1:6-7
8. Tempt You Beyond What You Can Bear – I Corinthians 10:13
9. Control You Against Your Will — I John 5:18-19
10. Win – Revelation 12:7-11
11. Steal Your Faith – Ephesians 6:13-17
12. Test You Without God’s Permission – Job 2:4-7 NLT
What a significant list! Right? Does any of these truths surprise you? That’s why it’s so important to know God’s word and understand the authority you have been given as a Child of God.
Let’s be mindful not to create an image of Satan that is bigger, stronger, and more powerful than he really is. As the song says, “Our God is greater, stronger, higher than any other. Our God is Healer, awesome in power. Remember I Peter 5:8 AMP says, “Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour.” This verse says that Satan prowls around like a roaring lion, not that he is one. He’s NOT a roaring lion. He’s a fake, a phony, an impersonator. Satan is an imposter!
So, the next time Satan comes around trying to give you a hard time, come back to this list and remind him of ALL these things … he CAN’T do!
