Here’s a News Flash for You:

No matter what assignment God has given you, it’s not going to be something you accomplish easily. You’re going to face some pressure.

Sure, we’d like to think that, because we are operating in alignment with God’s will, things should happen in a “no-stress” fashion. But that’s not how things work. Why? Because the development of your faith requires patience, and the development of patience requires adversity. So, to grow in faith and patience, you’ve got to face some challenges.

I used to think that becoming a Christian meant that, finally, I could take a breather and God would handle the “hard parts” of life. I was wrong and that was just immature thinking. See, God wants us to grow stronger in our faith, stronger in our trust in Him and stronger in our ability to believe His word.

So, the next time you face a challenge, don’t despair. Trust God’s word and know that you’re getting an opportunity to grow. James says it this way:

Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work, so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way.  James 1:2-4 MSG

Here are 5 things to remember when facing a challenge:

  1. God always provides a path to victory – I John 5:4
  2. The Word of God always works – Isaiah 55:11
  3. No matter how big the challenge, you’re never alone – Deuteronomy 31:6
  4. You must Speak God’s word, God fulfills His promises – Jeremiah 1:12
  5. Challenges are opportunities to develop your faith – James 1:2-4

When the pressure is on, know that it’s an opportunity for growth. Don’t underestimate the power of God’s word. That’s the time to declare the word, receive God’s results and prepare for victory.  So, let’s go! We’ve got some growing to do.
