Since this is Holy Week, I’ve been thinking a lot about John 3:16 (NIV). You know what it says:

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

And as powerful as that verse is, it becomes even more impactful when we take a minute and, instead of just quoting it from memory, we pause and make it personal. That’s right. Make John 3:16 personal by putting YOUR NAME in the verse. Jesus died for YOU! 

God gave His only son for YOU. Can you imagine God watching His only son Jesus endure the pain of torture, ridicule, shame and every curse imaginable all for the sake of saving YOU? When you think of it that way, it exponentially increases the impact it. Try it. Re-read the verse below but, plug your name into it:

For God so loved (your name) that he gave his one and only Son, that (insert your name) believes in him (your name) shall not perish but (insert your name) have eternal life.
