I recently read a captivating book about a young woman who had a very difficult childhood as a result of having a neglectful mother who berated, belittled and abused her. She was eventually able to get away from her mother, grow into a beautiful, kind and seemingly capable woman but, privately, she couldn’t out run the harsh, condemning voice of the inner critic inside her head. That unforgiving, relentless voice, planted by the seeds of her mother’s harsh words, worked to convince her that she was unworthy, unimportant, bothersome and undeserving of kindness, happiness, love or any sort of goodness in her life.
Sadly, we’ve all experienced times when the enemy bombarded us with negative thoughts but, here’s the good news: You don’t have to listen to enemy, and you can shut him up immediately if you’ll do this ONE THING.
When the enemy tries to talk you out of who God has called you to be, what He has called you to do and what God has for you… just say these 4 words:
I Agree with God. That’s it. I AGREE WITH GOD.
Stop right now and say it out loud: I Agree with God. Now, what does this mean?
To “agree” means to say the same thing. It also means to believe the same or think the same way as someone else, in this case GOD!
So when the enemy tells you, “You can’t do that thing that God told you to do.” Your response will be — I AGREE WITH GOD. I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME. (Philippians 4:13)
When the enemy says that pain in your side is something serious, you’ll say: I AGREE WITH GOD. BY HIS STRIPES I AM HEALED. (I Peter 2:24)
When the enemy tries to convince you that you’re going to run out of resources and that you’ll have more month than money this time, you’ll say: I AGREE WITH GOD. MY GOD SUPPLIES ALL MY NEEDS ACCORDING TO HIS RICHES IN GLORY by Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)
So the next time the enemy tries to talk you of the blessing, the health, the peace, abundance, joy and all the other great things God has planned for you, put him on the run by using the power of your words and making this undeniable declaration: I AGREE WITH GOD!
By the way: The title of the book I read is Check on Your Happy Friends by Kathryn Mae Inman
