I find myself increasingly willing to come to God without the trappings of adulthood.

I’m bringing Him my “I don’t know(s)” and “What about this(es)” and my “What does this mean(s)?” Of my 3 children, my middle daughter was the one who questioned everything. She wanted to know how, why, when, where, what and who. Then she wanted to know all that information from every perspective associated with the situation.

My husband and I used to wonder how so many questions could be housed in such a tiny package of a human being. Her questions were relentless and filled with genuine concern for everyone involved. And, somehow (often, miraculously) God always gave us all the patience we needed to answer her questions, calm her concerns, build her confidence and restore her peace.

These days, I find myself going to God about everything. Everything. Now you may say, “Wilma, you should have been doing that all along.” And to that, I’ll shrug my shoulders and tell you that there have been areas that I realize required more surrender. So, recently, I’m having one of those “childlike” conversations with God that is threatening to spin out of control when, suddenly, God interrupts me and says, “I give you My Word.”

And that changed… EVERYTHING.
